Flows from region near Tyson Lake in Piedmont down the valley now occupied by Trestle Glen Rd, mostly now underground in storm drainage pipes. Once entered Wildwood Creek near present intersection of Trestle Glen Rd & Lakeshore Ave in Oakland. Early settlers called this stream Indian Gulch because a native village was located in the valley. The name was changed in 1893 after a streetcar trestle was put across the valley, and the area was developed by the streetcar company as a picnic ground with dance pavillion and refreshment stands. There was an unsuccessful attempt around 1915 to have Oakland buy the area for a city park. Within the next decade, developers cleared the valley and subdivided it, in the process removing the last stand of Oakland's original oak trees.
